People Acting in Community Endeavors (PACE, Inc.) was incorporated in 1982 to mobilize and utilize both public and private resources to affect the improvement of the economic and social quality of life for low income residents of the Greater New Bedford area. Since it's inception, P.A.C.E., Inc. has developed a reputation for responding to community needs, providing high quality programs for low income people, developing innovative strategies for empowering poor people, and working cooperatively with both the non-profit and for profit communities. The Mission of P.A.C.E., Inc is:
- To develop strategies and to mobilize resources to alleviate poverty in Greater New Bedford
- To provide a leadership role in developing new programs and initiatives in order to increase the status and economic self sufficiency of low income residents in New Bedford
- to increase awareness among low income people, public officials, media, and the general public regarding the causes and impact of poverty on the lives of low income people
- To motivate and engage low income residents in programs and strategies to allieviate poverty
